The Id. Buzz

Introducing the ID. Buzz, a modern reimagining of our iconic microbus. Now, the bus is back in an all-electric way.

The original microbus, known as the Type 2, came to Canada in the 1950s. During the 1960s and 1970s, the Type 2 was embraced by people who valued freedom, adventure, the spirit of exploration, and of course, quirky design.

Over the years, we’ve introduced various iterations of the microbus, from the Vanagon to the Eurovan. But one thing never changed: the good vibes.

Today, after a long hiatus in Canada, the spirit of the microbus has been fully reimagined for the modern era. The same retro-inspired shape, colours, space, and nostalgia – now with a fully electric drivetrain with instant acceleration and all the latest tech.

There’s no other vehicle quite like the ID. Buzz. It’s not just a means of transportation. It’s a lifestyle.

Inspired by the original microbus, the all-new ID. Buzz has an instantly iconic shape and an array of vibrant colour options. So whether you’re at the charging station, at the beach, or on a road trip, you’ll be putting a smile on the face of everyone who sees you.

Space For Days

The original microbus had lots of space, so why should the all-electric reimagining be any different? The ID. Buzz offers an option of 6 or 7 seats, extra roomy rows, and a flexboard that creates a large flat interior surface for unlimited possibilities. All made possible due to its state-of-the-art MEB platform, huge wheelbase, and short overhangs.

Plus, with an available panoramic glass roof that lets in the sky above, you’ll feel like the ID. Buzz has space for the whole world around you.

To celebrate the first year of the ID. Buzz, we created the 1st Edition model and filled it with special features and details to commemorate the occasion. As if bringing back a classic wasn’t special enough.

Instant Torque - Instant Torque. Instant Fun.

Thanks to its instant torque, the ID. Buzz can call on its 282 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque the moment you hit the pedal. Needless to say, it’s a little quicker than your grandfather’s Type 2. With available 4MOTION® All-Wheel Drive, output jumps to 335 horsepower with 413 lb-ft of torque, and the ID. Buzz can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just X.X seconds.*

Range - Oh The Places You’ll Go

With a range of up to 377 km on a single charge*, your ID. Buzz will always be ready to take you on your next adventure. No matter where that is.

Just because the ID. Buzz has chill vibes doesn’t mean it’s not hard at work behind the scenes.

The ID. Buzz converts braking energy into useful battery power. So whenever you brake or take your foot off the pedal, that kinetic energy is stored for later.

Iconic two-tone exterior - Make the road more colourful

No matter the colour of your ID. Buzz, it’s bound to turn heads (we mean, just look at it). But picking your flavour of Buzz is half the fun, isn’t it? So, we offer a wide range of both two-tone and monotone colour options.

LED light design - Light up your world

The ID. Buzz incorporates the fun and vibrance of light into its design, inside and out.

As you approach the vehicle, the LED headlights will pivot and light up with a friendly “open eye” greeting. Now that’s a warm welcome.

The ID. Buzz has a prominent VW logo right on the front, just like the original microbus. But the ID. Buzz takes it to the next level. The logo lights up and is accompanied with an illuminated light line on the grille. Which looks awesome.

Feel-good visibility - All eyes on the road

When you’re in the driver’s seat of the ID. Buzz, you’re in an elevated seating position that keeps you high up above the ground. In fact, the ID. Buzz has the highest elevation of our entire family of vehicles. Being higher up means you’ll have increased confidence and full command of the road ahead.

6 And 7 Passenger Seating Configurations
Buzz Your Way
The ID. Buzz comes with two seating configurations. How will you choose to Buzz?

7 Passenger:
The 7-seater ID. Buzz comes with a second-row bench seat. The bench can slide forwards and backwards, and can be folded for easy access to the third row. The 7-seater version of the ID. Buzz comes exclusively with Rear-Wheel Drive.

6 Passenger:
The 6-seater ID. Buzz comes with two second-row captain chairs. The second-row seats can move forwards and backwards, can be folded for easy access to the third row, and has 8 reclining positions. The 6-seater version of the ID. Buzz comes exclusively with 4MOTION® All-Wheel Drive.

No matter which seating configuration you choose, the third row is fully removable for whenever you need even more cargo space. Whatever the task, the ID. Buzz can adapt.

Stay flexible
Need to carry more stuff in your ID. Buzz? Fold down the third row, and you’re all set. Need even more room? Fold down the second row too.

The ID. Buzz has front row seating designed to heat and cool. Hot day out? The seats are ventilated to help cool you off. Brisk winter day? Simply use the heating feature. Plus, with two armrests per chair and a massage function, you’ll be comfortable no matter where the road takes you.

On the acceleration and brake pedals, you’ll find ‘play’ and ‘pause’ symbols. Even the ID. Buzz’s pedals are keeping things groovy.

A twist on storage
The ID. Buzz’s centre console has a bit of a party trick. That’s because it’s fully removable.

Remove it, reverse it, put your stuff in it. It even comes with a bottle opener and ice scraper. Making it the perfect tailgating companion.

There’s also multiple mounting points for the centre console within the ID. Buzz. So you can keep it up front, or quickly install it in the second row of your 6-seater.

Deck out the interior of your ID. Buzz with one of three unique colour palettes – giving the inside of your vehicle its own distinct vibe.

Moonlight:
A dark, moody interior option that includes raisin seats with white piping, dark blue door inserts and a dark wood-look dash, paired with black headliner.

Dune:
A bright, airy, coastal-inspired interior option that pairs light ‘mistral’ seats with clay-coloured piping, clay door inserts, and a light wood-look dash.

Cognac:

Electronic Sliding Doors With Easy Open Virtual Pedal - Kick It With The ID. Buzz
Not only does the ID. Buzz feature the iconic sliding doors of its predecessors, but opening and closing them is as easy as kicking your foot under the door. That’s helpful for all the times your hands are full.

Easy Open Liftgate - Kick It Real Good
Hands are full? Not a problem. Just kick your foot under the bumper and the trunk will open right up. And once you’re done, another kick will close it.

Manually-Retractable Tow Hitch - Tow As You Go
The ID. Buzz comes standard with a retractable 2” tow hitch receiver that will help make your next adventure a cinch. Just attach whatever you need – from a bike carrier to a small trailer.

Once you’re done, simply retract the tow hitch and hide it behind the rear bumper. So you’ve got towing when you need it, and sleek, unobstructed style when you don’t.

On the road, you can charge your ID. Buzz’s battery 10 - 80% in up to 26 minutes.* That means a 10-minute charge can add almost 100 km of range on a DC fast-charger.

With a 91 kWh battery and a 200 kW DC acceptance rate, you’ll be spending more time cruising instead of plugged in.

  • Updates for in-vehicle apps (e.g. navigation)
